An expanded guide to task types in Gamification

Below you will find a detailed description of all available task types. They have been grouped thematically to make it easier for you to find and understand the ones that best fit your event.


Group 1: Participant Profile

The tasks in this group motivate participants to complete their profiles, which directly affects the quality of networking and relationship building during the event.

  • Add avatar

    • How it works. The participant receives points immediately after adding a profile picture (avatar).

    • When to use. This is one of the basic tasks to add at the beginning to encourage participants to personalize their accounts.

  • Add biography

    • How it works. Points are awarded when a participant completes the "About Me" field in their profile.

    • When to use. Great for encouraging participants to share information about themselves, making it easier for others to find interesting contacts.

  • Add contact information

    • How it works. The task is credited when the participant adds a phone number or email address to their profile.

    • When to use. If you are concerned about facilitating the exchange of business contacts after the event.

  • Add a header

    • How it works. The participant gets points for completing the "Headline" field (usually position and company).

    • When to use. Helps identify callers quickly and is key to effective networking.

  • Add social media

    • How it works. Points are awarded for adding links to your social media profiles (e.g. LinkedIn, Twitter).

    • When to use. When you want interactions from the event to spill over to social media as well.


Group 2: Interaction and engagement

These tasks drive communication and make participants actively engage with the content of the event, rather than just passively receiving it.

  • Add chat reactions

    • How it works. Participant earns points for each reaction (e.g. thumbs up, heart) added to a public chat message. Requires setting a Required Value (e.g., 5, so that the participant must add 5 reactions).

    • When to use. A great way to liven up the discussion during a lecture without "littering" the chat with messages.

  • Create private conversations

    • How it works. Points are awarded for starting a certain number of private conversations with other participants.

    • When to use. To encourage individual networking.

  • Send chat messages

    • How it works. Counts messages sent in public chats (e.g. in sessions). Set Required Value, to determine how many messages you need to send.

    • When to use. Main task to stimulate discussion.

  • Send questions

    • How it works. Counts messages sent in a dedicated "Q&A" tab in the chat room.

    • When to use. To encourage participants to ask questions of the speakers in an orderly fashion.

  • Add a comment on the board

    • How it works. Rewards for commenting on posts on Blackboard (Wall).

    • When to use. Engages the community in discussions under posts.

  • Add a post on the board

    • How it works. A participant receives points for publishing a certain number of posts on Blackboard.

    • When to use. Ideal if you want participants to share their thoughts or photos.

  • Take part in the vote

    • How it works. Points are awarded for casting a vote in a poll (Poll) created by the organizer.

    • When to use. Increases survey turnout and allows you to gather feedback quickly.

  • Vote in the contest

    • How it works. A participant gets points for casting a vote in the Contests (Votings) module.

    • When to use. To increase engagement in contests and voting.


Group 3: Exploring the event

These tasks encourage participants to explore different tabs and features of the platform, so they won't miss any important content.

  • Checking in at the event site

  • How it works. The organizer can define special "zones" (areas) of the event (e.g. a specific session, exhibitor profile). Participant gets points for "checking in" to these areas. Requires additional configuration in the task form.

  • When to use. When you want to direct traffic to specific locations on the platform.

  • Visit the exhibitor

    • How it works. Counts how many exhibitor profiles a participant has visited.

    • When to use. Essential if you have an Expo area and want to provide value to your partners.

  • Add the item to the agenda

    • How it works. Participants earn points for adding a session or workshop to their personalized agenda.

    • When to use. Encourages planning and increases the likelihood of participation in specific program items.

  • Watch the session

    • How it works. Points are awarded for watching live broadcasts or session recordings.

    • When to use. To increase attendance at lectures.


Group 4: Special and moderated tasks

These are tasks with unique mechanics, often requiring interaction with the real world or verification by the organizer.

  • Password

    • How it works. In the task setup, you set a password(String required). The participant must enter it in the appropriate place to earn points.

    • When to use. Ideal for interactive contests. You can hide a slogan in a speaker's presentation, at an exhibitor's booth or in a social media post.

  • Scan the QR code

    • How it works. The organizer generates a unique QR code. The participant must scan it using the event's mobile app.

    • When to use. At hybrid and stationary events. Place codes at booths, in workshop rooms or on badges.

  • Scan the exhibitor's QR code

    • How it works. Similar to the above, but the QR code is tied to a specific exhibitor. The organizer selects from a list the exhibitor whose code is to be scanned.

    • When to use. To generate traffic to specific booths and give partners a tool to measure interactions.

  • Fill out the form/ Pass the test

    • How it works. In the task settings, you select a specific form or test from the list. The participant gets points for just completing (form) or for getting a positive result (test).

    • When to use. For collecting feedback, conducting knowledge tests after a lecture, or for creative surveys.

  • Send photo/ Send video/ Add text

    • How it works. These are moderated tasks. The participant submits content (photo, video or text) and the organizer must approve it in the Moderation tab , for points to be awarded.

    • When to use. For photo contests, creative question answers or any task that requires verification. You can enable Allow Custom Points, to manually evaluate and award a different number of points for the best submissions.
